The 2018 edition of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will begin on Friday, March 9, 2018.

The exam which is conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board is scheduled to hold between March 9 and 17.

According to Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Board's Head of Media and Information Department will go on as planned.

Benjamin on Sunday, March 4, announced that 2018 UTME candidates can start printing their examination notification slip from Tuesday, March 6.

“These candidates must ensure that these slips are printed before Friday, March 9 in order to familiarise themselves with the examination schedules, as no form of excuse for missing the examination will be entertained.

“We want to warn that the board will not reschedule any examination for anybody and so any candidate that fails to adhere strictly to the examination schedule as stated in their slips should have himself or herself to blame.”

Meanwhile, some candidates recently protested against the date the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB sets for the exam.

The candidates who protested on Friday, February 23, 2018, in Lagos questioned why JAMB wants to conduct another exam when admission processes are yet to close in some higher institutions.

Some of the protesting candidates carried placards with such inscriptions as  “Admissions are yet to close, why conducting another UTME now?”;“JAMB isn’t for revenue generation, stop milking our parents,” “2017 UTME held in May, why March in 2018?”, “2018 admissions not transparent”.
