MY VISION FOR FUTASU
 – PRESIDENT

The newly elected President of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Students’ Union (FUTASU), Comrade Olasehinde Adeyinka aka Newton  has unveiled a three point agenda for the students of the University during his tenure.
The three point agenda according to him will be centered on students’ welfare, empowerment and insurance. The President made this known in a media chat with the Information and Protocol Unit of the Institution.
Olasehinde stated that the interest of the students’ body was a top priority for him.  He also added that plans are underway to collaborate with Management to alleviate accommodation and transportation challenges of students within and outside the campus and to empower them with entrepreneurial skills that will enable them cope in the labour market.  The President decried the confrontational stance most Student Unions leaders adopt in presenting issues with University Management.  He therefore stressed the importance of dialogue in ensuring peaceful resolution of knotty matters and maintaining a peaceful coexistence between Management and all stakeholders in the system.
Olasehinde urged Management to create enabling atmosphere for both non-academic and academic staff to function effectively in their given roles.
He lauded Management for organizing the leadership retreat for students, adding leaders that it was educating, enlightening and aimed at inculcating leadership skills to the students.
Speaking on his role models, who have shaped his political ambitions, the President said that the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu was a huge inspiration for him. Olasehinde assured Management of the support and cooperation of the students’ body during his tenure and pledged to continually uphold the good image of the Institution.
