Briefing state house correspondents at the end of the federal executive council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, Isaac Adewole, minister of health, said this became necessary following the new case of Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He said the standby team comprises ten frontline healthcare workers that would be moving to locations where they are needed.
The minister also said the team is currently financed by the health ministry “until there is the need for further funding.”
Adewale also disclosed that the cases of the meningitis scourge in the country had dropped though “there is still a challenge in treating the infected persons after difficulties in diagnosing them at the first instance.”
Mahmoud Yakub, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, also briefed the council on the ongoing voters’ registration exercise and its readiness towards forthcoming elections in various parts of the country.
